DIFFERENTIAL THERMOMETRS
These
special-purpose thermometers permit the variation of the quantty of
mercury contained in the bullb so as to adjust the interval of
measurement to the desired level near any temperature from a few degres
below 0°C to a few degrees over 150°C. The large capacity of the
reaservoir relative to the bore of the capillary is useful for the
measurement of small temperature differentials of less than 5°C which
require a high degree of accurarcy (cryoscope, ebulliosciope, etc).
