INDUCTION COIL (RUHMKORFF COIL)

This a modern version of the classic device for producing higt voltages by transforming the output of a low voltage by transforming the output of a low voltage direct current generator. The prumary circuit is continually interruped by a trembler swich with a condenser in parallele to reduce spark( following the suggestion of Fizeau).

Produces 60-70 mm spark between secondary terminals with primary input of 10-12 V D.C.. A 6 V tension produces secondary voltage sufficient to operate discharge tubes. The coils are mounted on a PVC base. The circuit diagram for the device is printed on the coil sheath.

COMPLEX FOR THE STUDY OF ELECTRIC CIRCUIT LAWS

The complex comprises a set of insulated panels, each with a different electric circuit with interchangeable components.

These panels are mounted on a board supplied with a variable D.C. power supply and with voltmeter and milliammeter which can be connected at various points of the circuit by two rotating switches. The points where the voltmeter is inserted are indicated on the panel by a green light,while those where the milliammeter is inserted by a red light.

Each component is housed is a small insulated container which plugs in directly at the preset points on the panel.

BOARD FOR ELECTRIC CIRCUITS

For the insertion of the circuit panels.

Instrument panel houses the D.C. power supply and regulator knob, a voltmer and ammeter, both with large scales ( 100 x 125 mm), and controls for the selection of meter ranges and the insertion of the instruments in the different points of the circuit.

TECNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Milliammeter:

Moving coil instrument with center zero, two ranges (1 and mA), may be inserted in three diffeerent points of the circuit. With diode rectifier for A.C. measurements. Internal resistance is approximately 4 Ω for 1 mA range and 0.4 Ω for the 10 mA range in D.C.

Voltmeter: 

Moving coio, center scale, with two ranges (1 and 10 V), may be inserted in 4 different points of the circuit. Complete with diode rectifier  for A.C. measurement. The sensitivity of the voltmeter is 10.000 Ω/V in D.C.

Generator

Supplies a current which may be varied from 0 to 10 V D.C. with pole reverser swich.

PANELS FOR THE VERIFICATION OF CIRCUIT LAWS

These panels are constructed for use  with cat. 4760.00 board on which they are wasily mounted. In sqare PVC sheet with electric circuit on rear and circuit diagraqm reproduced on front face.

The varius components of the circuit (each housed in a separate container) may be plugged in directly at the proper points of the circuit by means of two jacks (see cat. 4760.30I4760.80).

The panels are automatically connected to the board circuit when mounted.

Each panel is provided with several points for the insertion of the voltmeter (V1, V2...) and millimmeter (A1, A2....) which can be selected by two rotating switches on the instrument panel. A green ligt and a red light indicate the points of insertion of the voltmeter and milliammeter, respectively.

The panels with D.C. circuits and those with the electronic circuits are connected to the D.C. power supply housed in the main board when mounted; the A.C. circuit panels require an external power supply (eg. the low -frequency signal generator , cat .2290.03) Nine different panels are individually available.

For the verification of Ohm's law in D.C. and for the measurement of the internal resistance of the ammeter and voltmeter of the main board.

This panel allows for the measurement of the equivalent resistance of two or three resistors in series and for the verification of Kirchhoff's second law.

WHEATSTONE BRIDGE PANEL

This is the classic Wheatstone bridge with two known and one unknown resistors to be inserted on the panel; the fourth resistor R is already inserted and may be varied between 0 and 1 kom.gif (127 byte).

The milliameter is inserted at position a1, for the control of the balance.

In addition to the measurement of an unknown resistance, it is possible to verify the conditions for the balance of the bridge and to observe its sensitivity to the variation of the imput tension and of the values ofthe comparison resistors.

SERIES-PARALLEL CIRCUITS PANEL

The circuit may be completed by the insertion of the usual components, as well as of one or two dry cells in housing, and of external batteries connected by means of the leads included in the set.

The tension and the current may be measured in four and three different points of the circuit, respectively.

The panel comes complete with two dry cell housing and 4 connecting leads with banana plugs and crodile clips for connection to external power supplies.

This panel allows for te building of circuits with resistors in series or in parallelel.

It may be used for the verification of Kirchhoff's second law for more than one loop in a circuit, of Thevenin's theorem, and of superimposition theorem.

A.C. SERIES CIRCUITS PANEL

For the study of the passive components in an A.C. circuit. Two or three components may be inserted in series for the verification of the formulas giving total impedance, and for the study of circuit response to variations in imput frequency.

The voltmeter has three possible points of insertion, while the ammeter may be inserted at only one point.

Ammeter and output tension readings may taken by an external oscilloscope for the study of the phase relation between tension and current, via two pairs of plug sockets on the panel.

The panel is complete with one pair of connecting leads.

A.C PARALLEL CIRCUITS PANEL

In addition to the behaviour of the individual components, the panel is designed for the study of the behaviour of an A.C. circuit with two or three passive components in parallel, and to observe the responsed to variations in the frequency of a parallel resonant circuit.

The ammeter may be inserted at three different points, one for each of the parallel loops, while the voltmeter may be inserted at the generator.

PANEL FOR CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ACTIVE DIPOLE

Two points provided on the panel for the insertion of diodes, resistors, and other components. The voltmeter may be inserted at three points, at two components, and at the generator (V1).

The milliammeter may be inserted at one point only.

The panel allows for the study of the characteristics of on-linear conductor such as germanium and silicon diodes or Zener diodes (included in the components group cat. 4760.80)

Complete with silicon diode, 6 kΩ resistor, and short-circuit bridge, all housed in special cases.

PANEL FOR CHARACTERISTICS OF AN ACTIVE QUADRUPOLE

 

Both PNP and NPN transistors can be mounted on the panel. Tension and current can be mesured at various points of the circuit. In addition to transistors, components of the sets cat. 4760.30, 4760.50, 4760.70 can be inserted.

Power imput is from the main board, with rator direction according to the choice of generator mounted on the panel. The type of transistor mounted on the panel. The panel is suitable for the study of the verification of the relation between base current, and currents of the collector and emitter of silicon transistors, and study of the behaviour of the transistor as an amplifier in the CE, CB, and CC configurations.
