To demostrate that the pressure of liquid in a vassel varies with the depth of the liquid and not the shape of the vassel. Copmrised at a base with a support for the attachment of 3 vessels, and an elastic membrane wich forms the diaphragm wall of a pressure gauge chamber. COMBINED U-TUBE AND HARE'S APPARATUS

For the determination of the relative density of liquids. A U-tube and a Hare's apparatus are monuted onthe same panel in order to demonstate different methods of measuring the relative density of liquid.The Hare's apparatus consists of two glass tubes, connectd at the upper ends with a Y-shaped plastic pice with rubber tubing. When the lower ends of the two outside limbs are immersed in beakers , one containing the refereence liquid, the other the liquid of unknown density, by sucking on the rubber tube, the two liquids rise to different levels, and the relative density may be calculated from the difference in height. The U-tube is mounted on the reverse face of the wooden panel, and allows for the direct measurement of the reletive density of two immiscible liquids, or of two miscible liquids separated by a  third immiscible liquid (for example mercury). Panel height 550 mm, with scales in mm divisions on both faces.

4184.12 HAND - OPERATED VACUM PUMP

 

This simple and low-cost pump is capable of handing all  laboratory experiments not requiring a vacuum below a few milimeters of mercury . Since the pump is hand-operated and of sturdy constrction , it can be easily used by stundents and presents  no maintenance problems. The pressure of the piston againts the cylindriacl wall of the pump may be varied so as to adjust the final vacuum obtained, as well as the effort necessary.

Specifications:

The pump is fixed to a platform fitted with two G-clamps for beanch mounting. The pump plate has a  diameter of 25 cm, and is equipped with a stopcock for the re-entry of air and 2 riffled nozzles of E 7 mm (one at centre of the plate for connection of pump to other equipment, the other beneath the plate for connection to manometer when bell jar is used). Air pump dimensions: length 395 mm, dianeter 38 mm.

MINILAB ROTARY VACUUM PUMPS  

MINILAB vane pumps allow the evacution of gases and vapours from a vessel at atmospheric pressure down to residual pressures in the  order of 10-2 mbar (for two-stage model).

They qre widely used in industry , research centers, bio-medical laboratories.

Main features

Weight lower than 10 kg and length smaller than 300 mm. These handy pumps are ideal for installation in portable units or bench equipment owing to their lightness, direct drive, silent operation, minimum vibration.

Simplicity and fair price. MINILAB pumps grant full capacitty throughout the whole operating range, their lubrication system secures the proper oil quantity even in the hardest working conditions.

The oil case capacity is such as to permit long operation between oil changes. Thanks to an easily visible sight glass , the oil level can be checked from a considerable distance.

A built-in device will give protection against oil flowback when the pump stops.

An exhaust pipeline is unnecessary as pumps incorporate a "filter - plug", cutting oil loss to a minimum.

 Easy maintenance and high reliability: ordinary service consists only of periodical checks of oil level and changing the oil charge within the intervals advised.

Two-stage model is recommended to suck in condensable vapours. A high working temperature and an effective "gas ballast" system ensure a remarkable tolerance for water vapour; ,large quantities of considerable vapours can be pumped (see Technical data).

Each pump is supplied thoroughly tested, and accompanied by an oil can, and a servicing manual complete with spare part list.

KINETC THEORY MODEL APPARATUS

A vibrator unit, consisting of an electric motor with an eccentric cam, drives a diaphragm which trasferes energy to metal spheres free to move inside of a perpex cylinder fitted with a cover. The motion of the spheres is a good simulation of the motion of gaseous molecules due to the effect of kinetic energy.

BOYLE'S LAW APPARATUS

For the study of the pressure-volume relationship of a gas

The apparatus comprises two open-end U-tube manometers, made up of flexible tubing to be filled with mercury and connected to a closed reservoir holding the gas under study. Raising or lowering the free end of the tuhbe results in  a greater or lower pressure exerted on the gas in the reservoir with consequent variation of the volume of the gas. The two manometers are mounted on a wooden stand with scale graduated in millimeteres. The apparatus is complete with accessories allowing for the observation of the behaviour of a gas in relationship to its pressure, volume, and  temperature; it may also function as a costant volume air thermometer, saturated vapour thermometer, or Torricelli barometer. Overall height of apparatus 115 cm.
